Because of the stay-at-home order in effect until June 10, 2020, the Association meeting and shrimp feast scheduled for May 13, 2020 has been postponed until a later date. The Association will keep the members advised when a new date is decided on. Everybody stay safe and healthy.
Because of the curent situation, the Association Luncheon scheduled for April 8, 2020 at 1:00pm at the Golden Corral in Winchester, VA. has been cancelled.

On July 29, 2019, the President signed into law The Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. The VCF Permanent Authorization Act extends the VCF’s claim filing deadline from December 18, 2020, to October 1, 2090, and appropriates such funds as may be necessary to pay all approved claims. The VCF recognizes that claimants will have many questions about the impact of the legislation on their claims. The VCF is committed to processing claims without interruption and issuing full payments to those who received a reduced award. Local 2068 Educational Assistance
Applications are now being accepted for financial assistance for members, a member's spouse and/or legal dependents of the Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics, Local 2068. Applications and supporting materials must be in the Union Office no later than Friday, April 17, at 12:00 noon.All applications and supporting materials will become the property of Local 2068. Applications received after the deadline will be returned to the applicant.
Applications and supporting materials shall include:
A completed and signed Local 2068 Educational Assistance application form.
An official copy of the school transcript and grade report from the school currently attending or most recently attended. The official school transcript should list all grade points earned and academic course work completed to date. The transcript should come from the school and be in an UNOPENED envelope or per school policy regarding Electronic Delivery of Official Transcript.
Applications that do not include an official school transcript will be declared ineligible.
A verification of a member in good standing status by Local 2068
Educational Assistance recipients will be selected based on previous academic performance (high school grades for new college or trade/vocational school applicant and cumulative college or trade/vocational school grade point averages and academic performance of college reentrant). A minimum satisfactory academic performance of a C grade (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) is required for all educational assistance recipients. The transcript must display the cumulative grade point average.
A total of 10 educational assistance awards will be awarded in spring of 2020 for the maximum amount of $500 each. The student will only be awarded one assistance per calendar year. In the case that all educational assistances are not given out in one year, the remaining monies may roll over to the next
Each application will be issued a ticket number. The name of the student will be placed on the ticket and placed in a secured box at the union office. The ticket drawing will be held at the May 6th, 2020 General Membership Meeting.
