  • Fourth of July Parade
    Updated On: May 21, 2025

    All,

Please save the date and spread the word throughout your vast and expansive networks. The annual Independence Day Parade in Fairfax City will take place on Friday, July 4, 2024 (C-shift), rain or shine. Our great department will celebrate its 76th anniversary (July 1, 1949) as an organized county fire and rescue department this year.

Below is a brief update on the early planning.

    ==

Just an update on this year’s July 4th Parade in Fairfax City. This year’s theme is “Freedom, Flip Flops, and Fireworks.”

    *Kicks off at 10 am

*Participants should be in place by 9 am, location TBD

*Parking is free in the B-garage

We are limited to 4 -5 pieces of apparatus and a float. We occupy the largest footprint in the parade and are undoubtedly one of the most anticipated parade participants by the many thousands who attend.

    Items to accomplish going forward:

I need a save the date posted on social media for L2068 and any other employee group platforms – ASAP, please.

To build interest and excitement in this fire department family event, begin to socialize among our great members and their families – everyone.

    Apparatus to attend

    Maxim (Cash)

    Seagrave (Cash)

New Engine (C-Team, please pick a new engine and crew that would like to attend)

Tiller (C-Team, please pick a crew that would want to attend)

Medic (C-Team, please pick a new medic and personnel that would like to attend)

Golf Cart with coolers & water (Cash)

If available, we can only hope and pray that these mythical and legendary superheroes find the time to break away from their rescue duties to ride the parade wave.

    Sparky (Mike Frames)

    Flash Max (Mike Furman)

    Marching Unit to attend

This will comprise our great members whom our SLT will lead. The preferred dress is a Class A uniform; however, personnel who DO NOT have a Class A uniform can march in Class C.

    Pipes & Drums (Matt)

    Honor Guard (Pat)

FRD uniformed personnel (need to get the word out by all of us)

    FRD retirees (Dominic/Elliot to handle)

FRD current recruit school- Two in session (George Robbins)

    Local 2068

Event afterward – the same place as last year (Eric)

Marching and Parade Banners (Eric – new L2068 marching banner)

    Event Flyer (Rocco/Eric/Ryan)

Please let me know if you have any questions, and as always – send me some ideas for improvement.

    Rocco

    v/r,
