  • Fourth of July Parade
    Updated On: Jul 05, 2024
    The Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department invites you to be a part of the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue tradition and march along side your brothers and sisters as part of the City of Fairfax Fourth of July parade.
    The annual Independence Day parade in Fairfax City will take place on Thursday, July 4, 2024 (B-shift), rain or shine. Our great department will celebrate its 75th anniversary (July 1, 1949) as an organized county fire and rescue department this year, and the parade will be part of the many celebratory events.
    Below is a brief update on the early planning.
    ==
    Just an update on this year’s July 4th Parade in Fairfax City. This year’s theme is “UNITED WE STAND.” How appropriate since the motto for L2028 is “Strength in Unity.”
    *Kicks off at 10 am
    *Participants should be in place by 9 am, location TBD
    *Parking is free in the B-garage
    All,
    Please continue to spread the word about this great event.  The annual Independence Day parade in Fairfax City will occur on Thursday, July 4, 2024 (B-shift), rain or shine. Our great department will celebrate its 75th anniversary (July 1, 1949) as an organized county fire and rescue department this year, and the parade will be part of the many celebratory events. PLEASE – do all that you can to increase our attendance. The parade is wrapped up before noon, so the attendees usually head home or to their next event on a day with little to no traffic on the major highways.
    Below is a brief update on the final planning – let me know if you have changes.

    *Kicks off at 10 am
    *Participants should be in place between 9 am and 10 am. The meeting location is the West Parking Lot (same as last year) – Marked by PURPLE banners, DIVISION 7. See the map below.
    *Parking is free in the B-garage
    We are limited to 4 -5 pieces of apparatus and a float. We occupy the largest footprint in the parade and are undoubtedly among the most anticipated parade participants by the many thousands who attend.
