• The next Association meeting will be held on May 8, 2024, at FS40 and on Zoom. The meeting will start at 6:30pm. Information for joining the meeting on Zoom will be sent out via email and be available under the Member Resources tab prior to the meeting date. Hope to see you then.

    The next Association luncheon will take place at the Moose Lodge in Front Royal, VA on April 24, 2024, at 12:00pm. Come on out for some food and fellowship. Hope to see you there.

    10th ANNUAL RETIRED FAIRFAX FIREFIGHTERS GATHERING. 

    OCTOBER 17 – 20, 2024

    Your Gathering Committee wants to pass on some important updates regarding next year’s gathering .

     

    ·       The Saturday, October 19th, MAIN EVENT will be held at Calli Baker’s Firehouse & Grill.  Noon-until……

    ·       The Quilts of Valor Event will be Saturday at the Main Event.  Limited to 5 recipients. 

    ·       The Friday, October 18th venue is currently TBD.  Noon-until…..

    ·       A “ NEW”  Host Hotel is currently TBD. 

    ·       The Thursday, October 17th Dinner Cruise is still on !

    ·       Friday and Saturday Golf is still on.  Courses to be determined. 

    ·       Sunday October 20th Brunch is still on !

    ·       A Friday morning activity for those not golfing is being worked on. 

    The Committee will have more details to pass on, especially the Host Hotel and Friday venue, to our retirees within the next few weeks. 

    We just wanted to give everyone a “heads up” that changes had to be made.  

    And since this will be our landmark 10th Annual Gathering, we want everyone to be marking their calendars and planning to join us next year.

    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY FOR CHANGES TO SOME ACTIVITIES

    HOST HOTEL   The host hotel for the 2024 Gathering will be the Holiday Inn Express Myrtle Beach-Broadway at the Beach.  This hotel is located right next door to one of Myrtle Beach’s best-known shopping, entertainment and dining attractions – Broadway at the Beach.  It is also right next door to our new Friday lunch venue, The Carolina Ale House !!   The hotel does not have “suites” as Staybridge offered, but we personally checked the rooms, amenities, and they are well appointed and offer everything you’ll need for your stay.  All rooms have refrigerators, microwaves, a Keurig, hairdryers, an iron/ironing board, and a safe that is programmable.  There is a complimentary breakfast.  The facility is dog friendly, for an extra fee.  It is also a NO SMOKING facility. 

    Rooms are available for our attendees at $109.00 for 2 queens and $119.00 for a king per night plus tax.  Check-In is 3 PM, Check-Out is 11:00 AM.  Bookings can be made at this time by clicking on the link   Fairfax FD Reunion     it will take you directly to the Group rates and room availability.   I was told no more king rooms are available.

    Friday, October 18th    **NEW EVENT**   PICKLEBALL   .  Beginning at 9 am   Pickleball is a fun game that's easy to play.  It's an easier version of tennis mixed with a larger version of ping-pong.   Jasa Wolfrey is hosting the retiree round robin in her neighborhood.   Spouses and family members are invited.   There is NO cost to play.
